Roger Rivas is an is an American musician, writer and record producer from Los Angeles, California. Rivas plays organ/piano for LA’s bands including The Aggrolites , The Bullets and The Brothers Of Reggae. He is also a founding member of all these bands.
In 2012 Rivas created his own label Rivas Recordings as an outlet for his own material. He records and produces all the content that comes from this label out of his own studio based in Los Angeles.
His latest work is a 7-inch Christmas single. It is released in cooperation Rivas Recordings with Chicago based independent label Jump Up! Records. The single contains two traditional songs – Joy To The World and Winter Wonderland – and is limited to 300 copies (150 on white and 150 on red wax).
Winter Wonderland is a winter song written in 1934. Through the decades it has been recorded by over 200 different artists. Joy to the World is a popular Christmas carol written in 1719. As of the late 20th century, the carol was the most-published Christmas hymn in North America. Own versions of the song were recorded by various artists, from The Supremes, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole to Johnny Cash, Pat Boone and even Mariah Carey.
Joy To The World / Winter Wonderland is a special edition 7-inch single from the “JUMP7XMAS” series by Jump Up! Records. Label’s yearly tradition of releasing Christmas ska/reggae wax continues into it’s 6th straight year (full list of releases – below).
