Susan Cadogan: There’s only one chance in life for everything

– Well, that’s life, when you want to record an interview with an artist. You can’t be everywhere – I thought when I was leaving the Soothsayers’ gig at this year’s edition of Freedom Sounds Festival. Susan Cadogan, a Jamaican singer who was famous in the ’70s with the hit “Hurt So Good” recorded for Lee Perry, was waiting for me at a hotel nearby.

What would a skinhead want under a Christmas tree – gift ideas

When you’re passing by a ligthened up reindeer while going to work, you’re hearing “Last Christmas” for the fifth time this week, it’s a sign that it’s about time to get down to christmas gifts. If up till now you still didn’t have time to think about it, perhaps RudeMaker’s gift ideas will help you a little. These are the things that would make me or my partner happy, from stores I know and where I shop. Nothing in this article was sponsored (that’s a shame).

KoNoPiAnS – Bangoraa

Here’s a new clip by Konopians. Song is surely not a very fresh one, it comes from “Mental Skataklism” album released 4 years ago. Yet, it’s still very nice, sweet reggae. Check it out while waiting for some completely new material.

SKAcowani – 500+

SKAcowani is a Polish band from Cracow and they have a St. Nicholas Day gift for you. It’s a new song and lyrics video. You’d think it’s a nice and jolly occasion, but what they’re singing about touches some serious social topics. 500+ is a name of Polish government’s controversial program granting monthly finantial help to families with kids. Anyway, enjoy.

The Uppertones is an Italian trio with famous vocalist and trombonist Mr. T-Bone as a leader. Besides all those gigs guys sometimes decide to visit the studio. Latest effects of that kind of activities are three songs released on a 45.

Freedom Sounds Christmas Ball #2

It was quite some time ago when Freedom Sounds advanced in my personal festivals ranking to the very top, pretty much number one actually. I’ve had a pleasure to visit Cologne in spring for three consecutive years and every single time I was amazed by perfect organisation and magnificent lineup. Now under “Freedom Sounds” banner Pete and his crew are making a second edition of christmas ball in ska, rocksteady and reggae rhytms, which is definitely one the most interesting propositions to spend good time during pre-Christmas period.

Lollypop Lorry – Ural Station on air

In the middle of Russia, behind Ural mountains, actually almost on border between Europe and Asia, lays a fourth biggest city of the country, Yekaterinburg. Looking at its location, it’s not so hard to think out, that temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius below zero are nothing surprising to anyone there. But that’s exactly the place, where one of most meaningful russian bands playing music originating from sunny Jamaica was formed. I’m talking about Lollypop Lorry here, and there’s a very good reason to mention them right now. Yesterday they’ve released a brand new album titled “Ural Station”.
